The violence that took place in our community just one week ago has calmed down and life is getting back to normal. Kids have returned to school, shops have opened, and the city has become alive again. Today there was a peace march in downtown Johannesburg, and thousands of people went to show their support. Here is a local news article about the march: http://ewn.co.za/2015/04/23/Foreign-shop-owners-grateful-for-efforts-to-end-xenophobic-attacks
The army got involved with the situation on Tuesday night and began raiding different hostels where those who had been stirring up violence were staying. The army’s presence (although we have not personally seen them) has made a huge difference in ending the attacks.
We are so thankful for the local and global church who have been praying, and that God is bringing peace to this city and situation.
